City of Annapolis once again snatches defeat from the Jaws of Victory
in the Twelfth Annual Tug of War
MRE celebrates with Distribution of Funds
and bids fond farewell to Premier Megan
(December 6th, 2009-Eastport, MD)—On the Day of our Inevitable Triumph last month, it seemed as if Neptune himself rose up from his watery kingdom in The Gulf of Eastport (located so very near that sacred point where the Severn and South Rivers meet to form The Great Chesapeake Bay) delivering victory after glorious victory on the golden tines of his mighty Trident to the noble warriors of The Republic. Well, except for that one match-up that, you know, the “other guys” won. Still, it was a good solid routing given the Annapolis side by the Eastport Tuggers.
So great were the spoils of this year’s War that The Minister of Finance has only just finished his accounting duties. The final amount in the Coffers of Distribution to Charitable Entities equals $10,701.50 As everyone knows; All’s fair in Tug-of-War. (I know! Sounds just like that other trite expression!) So shall the spoils of our war be fairly divided between the five beneficiaries pre-ordained by the War Council. As if by magic, the final amount ($10,701.50) when divided by five equals exactly $2,140.30. A number most sacred to Eastport-O-Ricans and the amount to be given each worthy organization listed below.
So, Tug Sponsors, Tuggers, Eastport-O-Ricans, Annapolitans and all friends of our Great Premier Megan Jones, please join us to celebrate the spirit of giving and the spirit of MRE friendship as we send Megan forth to her new residence in, well, in one of those square-ish states “out west” that doesn’t border an ocean and, therefore, it’s existence isn’t actually recognized by this Minister of Propaganda. Nevertheless, come out Monday night and you can ask Megan yourself just where the heck it is that she’s moving.
