The Tug ropewas stretched over the harbor and the tugging began at the crack of noon. And when the tugs were over, the fun really began on the Eastport side with live music, beverages, food, an officially sanctioned chili cookoff, and lots of vendors showing off All Things Eastport -- a festival that celebrated what a great place the Maritime Republic is! And the party, which was FREE, ran until 5:30, with Blue Thrill playing overtime!

MRE, the mock-Maritime Republic of Eastport, is an enlightened democracy based in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis, Maryland, and has become a force in the community since its founding on Super Bowl Sunday 1998. Doing good for the community and having fun at the same time & fun with a purpose is our mission, albeit with a quirky and sometimes bizarre way of carrying it out. For more information on the MRE and the 10th Tug of War and plans for the 2008 Tug, contact Karen Svea, Ministress of Propaganda, 410 353-4454.
