For the second year in a row, AYC's canoneer was kind enough
to start the race with a bang |

runners were chomping at the bit to start...

But
first, the "pace car" had to cross the bridge...

the canon booms and former mayor Dean Johnson waves the MRE
flag... they're off!

While
some ran and completed the grueling course in under a minute,
others took their time and strolled across the bridge, including
Dean Johnson, below, still carrying the MRE flag.

|
|
|
|
The
competition was so tough that many of the "athletes"
had to stop for some refreshment at the designated water stop,
mid-span.
|
|
|
|
|
And
a good time was had by all.
