MRE PRESS RELEASE Janaury 11, 2003 Contact:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AMBASSADOR'S
BALL CELEBRATES FOUNDING Eastport, Md.The public is invited to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Maritime Republic of Eastport by moovin' and groovin' at the event of the year, the MRE Ambassador's Ball, on Friday, January 24, 2003. After a year's hiatus, the Ambassador's Ball is back, but with a twist. This year, we'll celebrate the fact that "We Still Like It This Way," with a nod to the entity that inspired us, Key West's Conch Republic. So, attire is still Eastport formal, but with flowery island shirts encouraged. In fact, let's just forget it's winter and dress for the Keys. Another twist this year is that the Ball will be a pot-luck affair, with everyone asked to bring a dish of finger-food to share. The long-awaited event will take place at the Eastport Democratic Club, 525 State Street (State and Chester Streets), from 7-9 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $7.50. Music for dancing will be provided as will a cash bar. You must be 21 years old to enter. As a former MRE Premier once said, "You don't have to be an Eastporter to participate in the celebration. It's like being Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Everybody's invited to join the fun." The Democratic Club will be decorated in true Eastport grand style, with memorabilia from our glorious history and past premiers, ministers, and other celebrities are expected to attend.
