MRE
to Participate in Lee Airport Open
House to Raise Funds for Charity
Had
enough of the Blue Angels? Neither have we, but we have the next
best thing!
This
Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Maritime Republic
of Eastport will assist the management of Lee Airport in Edgewater
in its first Open House in two decades. The 80 year-old airport's
management is inviting anyone who has ever seen an airplane fly
overhead to come and see whats happening at the field. Admission
is free!
Featured
events include an airshow from 1 p.m. 3 p.m. with a very
impressive aerobatic display, a wing-walking demonstration and
a surprise act that will leave everyone talking!
Prior
to and after the airshow visitors will be able to enjoy all types
of aircraft on display including the State Police Medevac helicopter,
a radio-controlled aircraft demonstration, live music, food and
prizes.
MRE
hold a raffle for flight instruction and airplane rides to benefit
charity. The first prize will be an aerobatic ride certain to
put any roller coaster ride to shame.
We
will also be offering commissions in the MRE Air Farce! (All you
need to do is buy the official tee shirt!) The famous (or infamous
depending on which side of the harbor you favor) MRE Submarine
will be on display, as will the first aircraft of the Republic,
the MRE Zeppelin, Yellowdog.
MRE
proceeds will be donated to the Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia
and Lymphoma Society through the Chesapeake Bay Power Boat Association
in memory of Midshipman 1st class Ken Neptun.
Lee
Airport is located at 3094 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, Md.
21037 (at the intersection of Mayo Rd.)
