Run Across the Eastport Bridge
Saturday, May 8 - crack o'noon
for no reason whatsoever
MRE's 13th Annual Bridge Run-Scheduled for Saturday, May 8

Described as "the least challenging athletic event ever conceived"- Runner's World, 2005.
Make plans now to participate in this grueling test of mental and physical toughness. (Some competitors have taken as long as five minutes to complete this course!)
Registration is at 11 a.m. in the parking lot of Fleet Feet (318 6th street) in Eastport. Runners will receive a course map, race number, limited edition tee (designed by the MRE's very own artist extraordinaire: Cindy Fletcher-Holden) and a swag bag full of goodies from local businesses - all for only $20.
The Race will begin promptly at the Crack O' Noon. To prevent runners from becoming lost or confused on the circuitous race route, a pace car/van will be provided courtesy of WRNR- The official radio station of The Maritime Republic of Eastport. Awards ceremony and trophy presentation will take place around 12:10 p.m. (Anyone running with a canine companion is asked to use the sidewalk as the bridge surface grate can cause injury to paws.)
New This Year: the MRE Pub Crawl
Race participants will be eligible to receive discounts on select drink and food specials from 1 -4 p.m. at area bars and restaurants. (A list of participating establishments will be provided to all runners and volunteers.)
**Please note: there is no "Dog Days" event scheduled after the race.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Anne Arundel County SPCA and Save The Coconuts. Representatives from the SPCA will be on site. Save The Coconuts will also be present and selling raffle tickets for a smartfortwo Passion Coupe smart car.

The car will be on display in the parking lot of Fleet Feet from 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. (Contact Kelly Lange for details:410-491-5760). For more information about Save The Coconuts please visit www.savethecoconuts.org

Runners, joggers, walkers, strollers, humans and dogs of all ages, are invited to participate in MRE's "grueling" bridge run. Yes, it's .05K – point oh-five-K. Past first place champions have completed the run in about 32 seconds, so MRE thoughtfully includes a water stop at mid-span and has held warm-up sessions prior to the race.
Invaluable trophies hand-crafted by Cindy and other prizes are awarded to the runners for a number of exciting, fun, creative and unique categories.
The start is on the Annapolis side, next to the Annapolis Yacht Club, Although participants are issued a map of the race course, they have also been able to follow a special pace car in order to avoid getting lost. Well, except for last time when the runners overtook the Mercedes Benz pace car...
